Someone Worth Studying

More on Wikipedia

Edward V. Rickenbacker was an ace fighter pilot in WWI. Becoming fatherless at the age of 12, Eddie had a more-than-special bond with his mother that would hold fast throughout her life.

Driving race cars for a living, making $40,000 per year, gave Rickenbacker the reflexes and skills that were required for air-born dogfighting.

Rickenbacker went on to start an automobile factory, turning out 11,000 cars before the financial demise and the selling of his company to Audi.

Afterwards, among other things, he helped in rallying support and working for the U.S. during World War II. One thing he did in WWII was spy upon the U.S.S.R. under the pretense of helping them know how to work on American planes.

Among his feats, success, and oppertunities for fame, Eddie had a character beyond many. He remained a devoted Christian, had leadership qualities that were strict yet got things done and saved lives, he had a quick smile, and encouraged others when it looked as though he himself would die.

Eddie V. Rickenbacker died at the age of 83 due to a stroke.
